2010 Ford SVT Raptor

In case you haven’t noticed, Bradyourcarguy.com is sporting a new banner. See, right up there. The old banner was starting to bore me and, truthfully, had never really been something I was all that fond of. Besides, it didn’t have a Raptor.

I’m sure we can all agree that when we compare a Raptor-free banner to a banner that includes a picture of the all new off roading performance superstar, the 2010 Ford Raptor, well, there really is no comparison. Just like when this truck hits the trail, the Raptor will win every time.

Bartlesville Off-Road Enthusiasts Are Getting Raptor Ready

Oklahoma is no stranger to off roading. Four wheel drive and off road enthusiasts in Bartlesville and across Oklahoma enjoy living in a state that boasts a lot of opportunities to enjoy some good dirty fun. Groups like Oklahoma Trailchasers and Gettin’ Bent Off-Road gather together to show off their trucks and their skills on some of the most challenging terrain Oklahoma has to offer. And there is about to be a new presence on the trails.

This summer Ford will be introducing the all new 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and 4X4 fans across the country can hardly wait. There are a lot of 4X4 trucks out there, but not like this. The Raptor is essentially an off road racer wrapped in a street legal package with all the creature comforts we’ve come to expect from an F-150.

Unsurpassed 4X4 Performance

When you first see this truck you might be fooled into thinking it is just another of those 4X4 the manufacturers sometimes make to appeal to the Coca-Cola cowboys. But, make no mistake, though this truck is perfectly capable of getting you down the highway, and even styled well enough to not be out of place during a night on the town, this truck is at its heart an off roading performance machine.

The SVT Raptor turns up the dirt with an impressive 320 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque delivered to BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA/KO 315/70-17 tires by Ford’s 5.4 liter Triton V8 3 valve engine. A 6.2 liter BOSS V8 will be made available later to deliver even more power.

Where the Raptor really stands out from the crowd is in its suspension system. Nothing else on the market even compares. With a suspension built in partnership with Fox Racing Shox this truck offers 13.4 inches of rear travel and 11.2 inches of front travel.

Hardly any stock suspension remains from the standard F-150. Unique upper and lower A-arms, a new tie rod, and new half-shaft joints, as well as interal-bypass Fox Racing Shox, combine to make this monster a 4X4 truck that has no competitors.

My Raptor Ride

At the recent NADA conference in New Orleans I actually got an opportunity to drive one of these babies. Not a real one, they had one there and it looked like everything its said to be, but for some reason they seemed to have a policy against allowing people to take a spin through the convention hall. The Raptor I got to drive was a simulator Ford had set up that allowed you to experience driving a 2010 Raptor on the Baja course.

Now, I’m no off road racer, but this thing was a blast. There was a constant line of dealers lined up to get their off road on. I imagine the people who actually get out and do this for real (the ones who actually know what they are doing), here in Oklahoma or wherever they may be, will enjoy driving the Raptor even more.

Back to the Banner

Anyway, back to the banner. So that’s why I changed it. The Raptor made me do it. So what do you think? Is it better than the old banner? Leave me a comment and let me know. Also feel free to use the ask Brad formr the quick quote form to get a quote on any vehicle you may have an interest in. I’m more than happy to respond.

And with that I’ll just say, have a great day!
