The 2012 Toyota Camry – Reliability, performance and economy in a midsize sedan

January 27, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Toyota's all new 2012 Toyota Camry

The 2012 Toyota Camry catches your eye.

The Toyota Camry is one of the best selling cars in the midsize range. Its reputation is one of solid, consistent performance, roomy interior, and excellent fuel economy all combined with the ability to deliver power when required. The 2012 version of the Camry has been totally redesigned, but Toyota has held on to all the features that have made it such a popular car. Toyota has received some criticism in the motoring press for not giving the car a racier appearance, but these journalists seem to be missing Toyota’s point. The Camry is aimed at buyers who want to feel they are investing in a safe, reliable vehicle and the Camry’s exterior conveys exactly that image. The new Camry also sports a much more refined interior than previous models and features the new Web-based Entune system that integrates audio, infotainment and navigation.

2012 Toyota Camry Trim Levels

The Toyota Camry model is available in six different trims, two of which are hybrid versions. The entry-level car is the Camry L, which, at under $23,000 MSRP, represents excellent value for a car of this size and class. This trim, and the other standard engine trims, is sold with a 2.5-liter engine that delivers an impressive 268 horsepower to the front-wheel drive with a torque rating of 248 pound-feet at 4,800 rpm. The power available makes the car very comfortable when overtaking, and is all the more pleasing because the gas consumption level is surprisingly low. Consumption has been rated in all trims with standard engines at 25-mpg city and 35-mpg highway, excellent value for the money in a car of this size.

For those who want even more oomph, the Camry SE and XLE trims can be bought with a heftier 3.5-liter, V6 engine that, as you would expect, is less fuel efficient but still quite impressive at 21/30mpg. If fuel efficiency in a city environment is a key requirement, then the Hybrid LE (43/39mpg) and Hybrid XLE (40/38) are available. These are shipped with a 2.5-liter, hybrid engine with a combined horsepower rating of 200. All of the standard engine trims come with 6-speed automatic transmission while the Hybrids use the automatic electronic variable transmission.

2012 Toyota Camry Warranty and Toyota Care

While virtually all Toyota cars can be expected to offer trouble-free performance, there is always the chance that something will go wrong, so Toyota bundles a warranty package with its Camry range. Components and build benefit from a 3-year or 36,000-mile warranty while the powertrain is guaranteed for 5 years or 60,000 miles. The car is supplied with an anti-rust warranty for 5 years with unlimited mileage. The company also offers its Toyota Care package with new vehicles. This provides free regular scheduled maintenance up to 25,000 miles or 2 years.

2012 Toyota Camry Interior Refinement

2012 Toyota Camry SE Interior

The 2012 Toyota Camry has a much more refined interior.

Inside, the car feels spacious and comfortable. Toyota has modified both the base and slope of the rear window as well as the seating to give more space and the car provides a comfortable ride for three average adults in the rear. When carrying only two rear passengers, there is a pull-down central armrest with cup holders.

As you would expect, the higher priced trims deliver more in terms of style and features. The XLE comes with a 6.1-inch display with touchscreen for managing on-board entertainment as well as providing a navigation unit and Internet access.

2012 Toyota Camry Has Earned Worldwide Appeal

2012 Toyota Camry Red Bartlesville Toyota

2012 Toyota Camry in Barcelona Red Metallic - Doenges Toyota-Bartlesville

Not only is the Toyota Camry the bestselling car in the United States and North America, it is also one of the safest. This reflects in its strong customer base in many countries around the world except for Europe where competition is fierce and incidentally in Japan.

In some Asian countries, the Camry is seen as an executive vehicle.

The new 2012 Toyota Camry comes as a slightly redesigned version that exerts a tough exterior but with a smooth and stylish touch. It also has a load of new features under its sleeves that are sure to strengthen its hold as the number one sedan in the market today.

Improvements –for the 2012 Toyota Camry

Considering the fact that many of Toyota’s big vehicle revamps were made in 2007 and just recently in 2011, there really isn’t so much to expect in terms of upgrades for the 2012 Toyota Camry. But the design team still found room to improve, and they did.

More for Less

However, Toyota has been generous in making sure that customers get more than what they pay for by adding some nifty little features that make a purchase more than worthwhile.

Toyota engineers think long and hard about changes it will make to its prized vehicle fearing the risk of drastically affecting sales. That is why the 2012 Toyota Camry will be included again, among the top selling cars for the past 15 years.

Small Incremental Improvements

What many prospective buyers will notice upon seeing the 2012 Toyota Camry  is small and incremental changes. Noticeable upgrades will be seen in the exterior, and interior. What you can’t see, except in your wallet, of course is the improvement in fuel efficiency. These enhancements will continue to add to the iconic design and appeal of the 2012 Toyota Camry.

Exterior and Interior-

Highlighting the new 2012 Toyota Camry exterior are small changes such as.

  • A refitted bonnet/nose
  • Revamped headlight design
  • Integrated chrome grille
  • New rear taillight designs
  • New front bumper cover
  • Lower air intake, and
  • Chrome fog light recesses

Next the design team at Toyota worked hard to add the interior roomier. They accomplished this by adjusting several components such as the headliner [head room], the pillar caps, the center console, as well as the door control panels. This combination provides a more comfortable seating configuration.

Electronic Features-

The 2012 Toyota Camry is packed with electronic features that make it more than just a family sedan. Buyers have a choice of choosing electronic features and upgrades depending on their chosen trim level. Some of these features and upgrades include an:

  • LCD display system integrated with a six-speaker AM/FM/CD system
  • 6.1-inch touch screen LCD with HD radio,
  •  ITunes tagging audio system, and voice-controlled navigation.
  • Display technology used in these systems gives the driver or the passengers the capability of personalizing other vehicle systems and controls.
  • To top it all off, the most advanced electronics system in the form of a navigation system with a 7-inch display connected to 10 JBL Green Edge speakers.

This entire electronics package provides the driver and the passengers with an entertainment and navigation system that only can be described as “da bomb”.

Safety-First-Five Stars

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons to own a 2012 Toyota Camry as a family vehicle is safety. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rating for the 2012 Camry stands at 5 stars. The highest rating a vehicle can achieve. This is impressive due to the new and more rigorous testing procedures introduced by the current administration.

Crumble Zones and More Air Bags

A crumple zone {CZ} is a safety design feature that absorbs energy. In the event of an accident, the CZ absorbs the majority of the displaced energy before reaching the passenger seating area.  The body structure is designed to crumple at certain areas and withstand deformity near the passenger compartment to ensure maximum protection.

In addition, the vehicle is equipped with 10 standard air bags as well as the Toyota Star Safety System which is a complete vehicle safety solution that incorporates safety in stability control, traction, and braking among others.

Fuel Economy

Another good reason why the 2012 Toyota Camry could still retain its top spot in the sedan bestseller list is its improved fuel efficiency which further improves the EPA rating of the 2012 Camry to 25/34 miles per gallon city/highway compared to the 22/32 miles per gallon city/highway of its outgoing 2011 predecessor.

Cover-up? Toyota Chooses The Hard, Painful and Honest Alternative Route

February 4, 2010 by · Comments Off

Toyota Not Only Talks the Talk They Walk the Talk

Today in corporate America it is unusual to see a corporation take complete and total responsibility for their shortcomings right out of the box. Isn’t it refreshing to by-pass the dance and get to the core issue, raise your hand, take a hit in revenue and fix your problem?

No Guts, No Glory. The What Ifs

Admit it, doesn’t it take guts to ground your entire fleet of hundred of thousands of vehicles for sale to stop the bleeding due to seven or eight cases of accelerator malfunction?   For some major corporations that is a recipe  for a cover-up. Perhaps we all could have avoided this deep recession if some of our storied financial and insurance institutions had taken the same route as Toyota dating back to the spring of 2008.

No Brains. No Headaches.

How many times have you shaken your head at some of the stupid corporate decisions made by multimillion dollar a year executives who asked and received bailout out money? I guarantee you that a lot of these guys have never suffered a headache since they were promoted to the corporate big chair. No Brains. No Headaches. So I’m proud to be associated with two of the outstanding automobile manufactures in the world. Ford and Toyota. Your safety always comes or precedes corporate profits and you can take that to the bank. Now I’m not so sure we can say that about our government owned automobile manufactures.

The High Road: Why Toyota Corporation and Doenges Toyota are in Total Alignment

The safety of our customers and others is the most important thing.

I have great confidence in the Toyota Corporation and it leadership to do the right thing to insure everyone’s safety. Toyota has been a leader in Safety for over fifty years, and they are proving it now.

The Real Two Issues
Toyota has identified two issues that may cause unintended acceleration:

1. Floor Mat Entrapment The easiest way to assure that you do not experience “floor mat entrapment” is to not operate your vehicle with the floor mat until it has been inspected and/or repaired by your dealer.

2.  Sticky Pedal. The “sticky pedal” concern has been verified on very few vehicles. I have heard six to eight. However with Safety a top priority, one vehicle so disposed is one too many. The problem  appears to be associated with vehicle age and wear. If you do not experience any restriction or abnormal operation of your accelerator pedal Toyota has assured us that it is safe to drive.

What to do if you experience an accelerator pedal that is hard to depress, slow to return or “thumps” during operation, You should drive the vehicle to a safe location, shut off the engine and contact a Toyota dealer for assistance.

If you experience an accelerator pedal that sticks in a partial open throttle position do the following maneuver. The vehicle can be controlled with firm steady application of the brakes. The brakes should not be pumped repeatedly because it could deplete vacuum assist requiring additional brake pedal pressure. The vehicle should be driven to the nearest safe location, the engine shut off and a Toyota dealer contacted for assistance.

Toyota has engineered repairs for both of these concerns.                                                                                       A,) Toyota will notify customers when to bring in their vehicle for the fix.
B.) As of today, February 04,2010 we have received our first shipments of repair parts and have begun the safety updates according to the schedule Toyota has developed.

Doenges Toyota will be open extended hours and provide shuttle service to customers in an attempt to minimize your inconvenience.
Toyota, government agencies and independent testing have not identified any other causes of unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles. If you have experienced any problems with your vehicle involving accelerator operation or have any concerns about the safety of your vehicle, please contact me, one of my associates at 918-333-0900 or your Toyota dealer.

If you have not experienced any problems with accelerator operation Toyota has assured us that your vehicle is safe to drive. For information on these issues and to find out if your vehicle is involved go to: www.toyota.com/recall/. If you have further questions or concerns please call me or one of my associates at 918-333-0900.

We are in the process of updating our entire Inventory of Toyota Models to the very latest Toyota Specifications [as of today] They are safe and available to the Retail Market. Toyota Camry — The Crowned King of Used Cars

January 31, 2009 by · 1 Comment

And as the number one used car we have….The Toyota Camry. Well, no big surprise there. Its kind of like when Spielberg wins for best director. But the truth of the matter is, new or used, its tough to beat the Camry. As one of the best selling vehicles in history this car finds itself at the number one spot in a number of lists due to the plain and simple fact that it is, in almost all respects, consistently among the very pinnacle of its class.

2009 Toyota Camry

America’s Top Seller

You can probably count the number of family sedans that offer affordability, fuel economy, luxury, comfort, style, safety and a hybrid option on one hand. Better yet, you can probably do it on one finger. Not that finger. The one next to it. Yes, that’s it. Raise it towards the sky and say, “Number one, Toyota Camry.” Well, I think that probably covers it. Read more
