Car Buying Tips - Brad Your Car Guy – 2012 Ford Explorer
Ask people to name a good mid-size SUV and for sure the Ford Explorer will either top the list or at least come close. The Explorer has really come a long way since its introduction in 1990 but people need to realize that the new 2012 Ford Explorer is no longer classified as a mid-size SUV after the revamp of its 2011 version. Rather, the 2012 Explorer is now considered a full-size crossover SUV. As always, this vehicle is not only designed as a roomy family vehicle for city use, it is also meant to navigate through rough terrain with little hiccup.
2012 Ford Explorer Redesigned Exterior
Despite being reclassified into a smaller vehicle type, the 2012 Ford Explorer still looks rather large both on the outside and from the inside. In addition, the Explorer retains its masculine and rugged exterior SUV features that make other crossovers look effeminate in comparison. This seems to be done on purpose by Ford in order to continue marketing it to the SUV market.
Unlike its predecessors, the new Explorer features a 3-bar grille front with chrome strips and in addition to its new form factor, making it enjoy a commanding presence on the road.
2012 Ford Explorer Comfortable, Stylish, and Spacious Interior and Cabin
While the sheer width of the 2012 Ford Explorer makes it a challenge to park, the level of comfort and style in the cabin is the same as the level of sleekness in its exterior design. With soft-touch material for the dashboard, well-leathered and comfortable seats and arm rests, and an interchangeable ambient lighting system, it truly is a lot better than what other competing brands have to offer.
This crossover will retain its classic 4-door configuration but will still have enough space to allow up to 7 passengers owing to its 3 rows of seats as well as its extremely spacious cargo area, although it could use more legroom for the rear seats.
High-Tech Gadgetry for the 2012 Ford Explorer
- The 2012 Ford Explorer definitely has the best electronic features in its class, but there is a level of difficulty with the learning curve of some of these devices.
- The Limited trims come with a panoramic glass roof
- Driver door touch keypad
- Intelligent keyless entry system with starter button
- Remote start
- 8 airbags
- HID headlights with LED tails
- Two rechargeable USB ports
- Electric-powered third row seating
- Cross-traffic alert system
- Up to 3 LCD screens
MyFord Touch System
The core of the 2012 Ford Explorer’s advanced features lies in its MyFord Touch system which features a touchscreen display that controls various cruise-control, communication, navigation, and multimedia features of the vehicle. The MyFord Touch system can be controlled via control buttons beside the steering wheel hub which is a nifty little feature that makes driving a lot safer.
The High-Performance Engine
Being a monster of a crossover, the 2012 Ford Explorer requires a very strong engine and Ford very well overdid itself in providing just that. The 2012 Ford Explorer is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 290 horsepower, 255 pound-feet of torque, and 6-speed automatic transmission.
For Ford owners who want to invest in a more fuel-efficient yet powerful engine, adding about a thousand dollars will provide you with the EcoBoost system on a turbocharged 4-cylinder horsepower engine with 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Instead of the 17/25 mpg EPA rating of the standard engine, this technology allows you to stretch that to 20/28 mpg.
2012 Ford Explorer Driving Impressions
The 2012 Ford Explorer isn’t exactly built for speed and should not be treated as a pure off-road vehicle. On city streets and highways, it functions as it should and the speed and handling doesn’t make you feel like driving a heavy beast. However, the use of a weaker V6 engine compared to the V8 makes acceleration a bit of a hassle for performance drivers but it overall doesn’t really affect the driving experience much.

2012 Ford Escape – Car Buying Tips-Brad Your Car Guy

2012 Ford Escape – Car Buying Tips-Brad Your Car Guy
The 2012 Ford Escape is scheduled for a redesign for the 2013 model which explains the lack of new features from the previous year. The Escape is a 5-passenger and 4-door compact SUV available in various trims such as XLS, XLT, Limited, and Limited Hybrid. The 2012 Ford Escape is characterized by its high-end entertainment features, the convenient automatic parking option, and the unrivaled fuel efficiency provided by the hybrid trim level.
Although it is little more than a small upgrade from the 2011 model, the 2012 Ford Escape is jam-packed with features that still make it a top contender in the compact SUV market because of advanced features such as the:
2012 Ford Escape – SYNC In-Car Connectivity System
The SYNC In-Car Connectivity System is an easy-to-use system that can be integrated with a phone with Bluetooth connectivity, a compatible MP3 player, or even a USB drive connected to the various device slots available.
With the SYNC, the driver or passengers can make or receive hands free calls, read text messages, control music playback through voice commands, receive navigation support and traffic directions, receive online reports of the vehicle’s health, and even trigger a 911 call when an airbag is deployed after an accident.
The SYNC is a nifty high-tech feature that integrates many services into one. It is perfect for car owners who want the most convenient way of accessing communication, navigation, and entertainment controls into a single centralized system. Whether driving to work, the mall, or just plain cruising around the city, the Ford SYNC system makes the ride more comfortable and worthwhile.
2012Ford Escape – AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control
The AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control is a safety performance feature equipped in the 2012 Ford Escape that uses gyroscopic sensors to measure roll motion and vehicle yaw. When the system senses a loss of control in the vehicle in certain situations such as sudden turns or swerves, it automatically applies the brakes and adjusts engine power to help the driver keep the vehicle under his control and to keep it from rolling over.
The AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control can help the driver of the 2012 Ford Escape cruise safely in dangerous road conditions or difficult terrain or when he swerves or turns sharply to avoid obstacles or objects on the road.
2012 Ford Escape – Excellent Fuel Efficiency -34 Miles Per Gallon
The 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid trim is unrivaled in terms of fuel efficiency because of its 34 miles per gallon EPA rating. The electric motor is used for speeds not more than 44 miles per hour thereby producing no emission whatsoever. When the gas engine is activated, there is a smooth transition and the 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle I-4 gasoline engine together with the electric motor work together to produce a very respectable 34 city miles per gallon. The best part about the hybrid engine is the regenerative braking energy that charges the batteries when the driver applies the brakes. The heat produced while braking is captured and transported to the battery pack as charged power.
Owners of the 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid and Limited Hybrid trim level can potentially save thousands of dollars of fuel especially when it is used in city streets most of the time. Although its core feature is in its electric motor, the gas motor does not pale in comparison and still provides top notch power to keep the vehicle running smoothly.
2012 Ford Escape – Double-Lateral and Semi-Trailing Arm Rear Suspension System
The double-lateral and semi-trailing arm design of the 2012 Ford Escape rear suspension allows each rear wheel to work independently to cruise through various road conditions with ease. The inclusion of precise suspension tuning and an installed 18.5 mm rear stabilizer bar also contributes to providing a controlled, comfortable, and responsive ride. Despite being mostly a city vehicle at heart, the excellent suspension of the 2012 Ford Escape makes it perfect for outdoor activities as well. The Escape can also be the perfect family vehicle for outings and vacations.

2012 Ford Raptor – Buying Tips – Brad Your Car Guy
January 7, 2012 by Stealthman- You Car Guy · Comments Off
If you are a Ford truck owner already, you know for a fact how great Ford offerings are when it comes to powerful trucks.
One of the Ford pick-up “Thoroughbreds” is the F-350 Lariat with the optional FX4 off-road package with skid plates and hill descent, rear camera and more. A mean machine.
“But Wait” there’s more, lets take a look at the 2012 Ford Raptor.
Introducing The New 2012 Ford Raptor
Maybe you want something even tougher, well, Ford has a treat for you with no tricks. It does not matter what you think you know about trucks, nor does it matter if you are a Ford driver now. Matter of fact, that is just what Ford is counting on because the rules of the game have changed. Introducing the new 2012 Ford Raptor.
“Ford Tough” is an Understatement for The New 2012 Ford Raptor
The 2012 Ford Raptor is one truck that will not disappoint even the most hard to impress. Need to get up that hill and climb that mountain? The 2012 Ford Raptor is your answer. You can rely on the new front torsion differential that allows this trucks’ grip to increase significantly in order to pull it over any obstacle. Steep grades are a piece of cake even when the front tires are uneven and the traction is split between the two.
Engineered to Climb Tough
Need torque? The engineers deliver big time with the 2012 Ford Raptor do this; Torque is forced from the tire that has the traction to the tire that needs it most, what more could you ask for? How about a preload set to zero to minimize any steering wheel shakes and feedback? Yes, the Ford Raptor it has that as well. This truck gives rock climbing a new definition, taking you places you never knew an off-road truck could go.
Ergonomic Creature Comforts built into the 2012 Ford Raptor
Also making its’ debut for the 2012 Ford Raptor is a new 4.2″ LCD productivity screen that gives the driver a new way to view exactly what is going on right in front of the truck. Never again will your view from the driver’s seat be blocked or become an issue. Keep in mind that this feature only works when traveling at 15mph, so it is only meant for times of serious climbing and not day to day driving. This is something that has not been done in another off-road vehicle and is sure to be a hit with everyone. This feature is especially helpful when climbing a fairly steep incline and when you are trying to stay out of trouble’s way where mud and rocks are plenty.
The Versatile Outside Camera Washing Plus the “No Sweat” Features
Don’t worry about scraping mud off the outside camera that is mounted to the grill as it includes a dedicated washer that you can activate on your steering wheel to keep your view clean at all times.
Never let them see you sweat and now you don’t have to when you can turn on the ventilated seat Cooling feature offered in the deluxe package. Ah, on hot day you know that feels much better, right? No-more sweaty shirts stuck to the back of the seat…yuck?
Another Reason the 2012 Ford Raptor Stands Out
In an effort to get noticed even more, let’s not forget to mention the new color being offered, aptly named Race Red as well as updates to existing body paints. The Raptor logo is prominently featured this time around and gives it that wild and free feel and adds to the already well loved style one expects from the Raptor. This is one heck of a truck and reminds you exactly why they have always used the term Ford Tough.
Ford’s Continued Rise In Fan Popularity
Ford sees a new popularity and a definite increase in sales with this new offering and one can definitely see why. With its 6.2 liter 8 cylinder engine, increased torque and 411 horsepower, this is one powerful vehicle that will take you where you want to go and further than ever imagined in a truck. So, when you are in the market for a serious off-road truck that will make your heart race with excitement, look no further.

Top Three Car Buying Tips Most People Don’t Know Guaranteed to Get Your Best Deal
September 23, 2010 by Brad - Your Car Guy · 1 Comment
The Top Three Secret Tips on How to Find the Car, Crossover, SUV or Truck You Really Want at the Best Price and Best Financing Rates Available
First- Discover Your Customer Pain Index Number
The average consumer buys a new or used car every 30 months and all studies show that the trend will continue for years to come. Take this tip sheet, apply the advice and shopping for a new or used vehicle will be a fun and exciting event as it should be. Allow me to introduce to you how Ben Franklin would have engaged the acronym SPACED to buy a car.
The Acronym S.P.A.C.E.D is the thermostat for the Customer Pain Index
SPACED is a way to perform a quick scan of the entire feature likes and dislikes of any vehicle. Each letter in the acronym will provide a prompt to help you evaluate your current transportation, likes, dislikes, needs and wants.
- S=Safety ~What new safety features do you want or need?
- P=Performance ~Are you underpowered and want more horsepower?
- A=Appearance ~Is there a new make or model that melts your butter?
- C=Comfort~More room, bigger, better ride, leather seats, more options?
- E=Economy~Better Fuel economy, lower maintenance and or insurance cost?
- D=Dependability ~Longer or new Warranties, better manufacturing etc
Tip # 1. Free PDF Download-Fill out and Answer the Ben Franklin Appraisal Sheet.
- Take a sheet of paper and draw a line down the middle of the sheet forming two columns. The Left Column and the Right Column.
- The Left Column should read “Everything I Do Not Like about my current Vehicle”.
- The Right Column should read “Everything I Like about My Current Vehicle”.
- Or make it real easy. Download and print the Ben Franklin Appraisal Sheet I prepared for you–click here Your Ben Franklin Pain Index Guide on the blue print.
Unless you have an unlimited checking account it is mandatory that you complete these two lists first before you go on line or visit a dealership to look at cars. This exercise alone will save you time, money and irritation. Guaranteed.
First Start with “Everything I Don’t Like”. Write down and list everything, even the trivial stuff. This is your list of what is causing you “pain” in the ownership of your current vehicle. This list are the items, lack of features, performance, comfort, convenience or safety issues that got you in the market, the looking mode for a new or used vehicle.
Tabulate Your Customer Pain Index Number
Next after you compile the list, rank your entire list of things from top to bottom, from worst to least. What item gives you the most pain to the least pain but still is irritating.
Most people list 5 to 8 items that they really don’t like about their current vehicle; and or they want in a new vehicle that does not exist for their current car, truck, crossover, SUV or van.
Let’s assume you have a list of 7 items on your “do not like list”. Next I want you to rank them from worst to least in pain or aggravation. So your worst item would occupy #1 on your list. The # 2 item on your list is an item you want to improve on but is not as bad as #1 and so on with #3, # 4 etc to the end of your list. The one or two items at the top of the list or your Pain Index are two features we want to concentrate on.
The Secret to Lock in Your Best Deal as Well as Will Cure Your Pain
Have you ever heard the term “Wow they, he or she sure has your Number”. The top item on your “do not like list” is your Number, this is your Pain Index Number.
Almost every vehicle has a least 2000 features, advantages and or benefits. However 90% percent of the REASON you buy any high dollar product, like a home, car, investment, jewelry, furniture etc is decided by only one or two features.
Let me restate that. Out of all of these features in these products, 90% of the reason you will buy any one particular product is due to one or two features you need, you want or will solve your problem or pain. All of the other features are nice, but without the top one or two you will pass on the purchase. Why? Because those one or two items completely erase your pain. Sold!
This is Top Secret Tip #1. Tomorrow I will publish Secret # 2. For now download the Ben Franklin Appraisal Sheet and fill it out. In my next post I will explain how to leverage the information and details you have listed on the Appraisal Sheet.

Bad or Good All Salespeople are Transparent
September 12, 2010 by Brad - Your Car Guy · Comments Off
Is Persuasion Good or Bad?
Often times I ask consumers “What do you think should be the number one priority of a salesperson?” Before you attempt to answer my question let me suggest that we contemplate and define who a salesperson is. I personally believe that EVERYONE is a salesperson.
Selling is the Art of Persuasion.
It is the attempt by one human being to get another to buy, adopt or vote for your point of view. If the sell was a success the consumer, the target, the spouse, the child, the principal, the collector, the lending officer, your boss or at least a hundred other types , “buys” your product, your position or what you are selling.
Let me explain the Scumbag
When most people think of the word “Salesperson” over 90% immediately associate the monikers car and insurance salespeople. Often with a smirk or shake of the head. The implication is that all salespeople are scumbags.
Are they really?
A scumbag is the guy who illegally parks in handicap zone just because he thinks he can get away with it. Even worse is the guy who obtained a fraudulent Handicap sign and grabs the close up parking space out of pure selfishness. I could probably write a book on all the scumbags I have encountered, so could you. However a scumbag is not worth the time or effort; unless his name and picture was distributed to every grade school in the country in the form of a Top Ten Scumbag List.
Now let me get back to my theory that “Everyone” is selling something and it starts almost from birth.
The Best Salesperson is….
The best salespeople I have encountered are children. If you have children this will resonate with you. My own children up to a least the age on ten never accepted the word “No” the first time. The word NO didn’t appear to even faze them, or enter their mind as the final outcome. After the first NO, the dialogue was one word at a time. I say “No” the kid says “pleasssse” and so it goes until I cave in. Yep that is right I caved in at least 85% of the time.
Children are great salespeople and the bible confirms the idea. Doesn’t the bible teach the concept of “Ask and You shall receive?” Most children remain “natural salespeople” until their parents or other authority figures teach them that this natural talent to sell is really just a case of bad manners. So starts the beginning of the notion that salespeople are somehow ill-mannered, obnoxious bad-people, i.e. the used car salesperson.
The Daily Handicap for a Car Dealer
From here for us in the retail automotive industry every day we start the sales side of our business with a handicap. The handicap is the perception that in order to buy a new or used car you have to deal with the stereotypic “used-car” salesperson. Transparency has leveled the playing field and almost eliminated the stereotypical salesperson. The internet quietly and quickly has sharpened the focus of the consumer. Today good or bad all salespeople become transparent.
How to Spot A Good Salesperson Instantly
Good salespeople have always been transparent internet or not. The internet has exposed the bad, phony and fraudulent salesperson. This generation of salespeople will become extinct and starve.
So what is the #1 priority of a salesperson, a good salesperson? The number one priority is to solve your problem. To provide a remedy that takes away your pain. The same way a doctor, dentist, or attorney helps you solve a problem and eliminate your pain.
A good salesperson is a profit center for your business. A good salesperson promotes good will and repeat business. The customer always appreciates a good salesperson. A bad salesperson is an expense to your business, suffocates repeat business and destroys your goodwill.
When we have a salesperson position open, we hire attitude and train for skill. This is why we work hard and have been able to maintain a staff of good, problem solving and proud car salespeople.

Doenges Ford-Bartlesville Oklahoma-a Genuine Legacy
May 28, 2010 by Stealthman- You Car Guy · Comments Off
By Russ Mullin Guest Contributor
To Live-To Love-To Learn-To Leave a Legacy. The term legacy implies leaving something of value for others to enjoy and or benefit from. Before you can pass along or bequeath value you have to earn the value. True value is earned by design, desire, vision, sacrifice, giving, learning , passion and hard work.
Giving Back to the Community. We hear this term a lot and at times “giving back to the community” echos a shallow rhetoric theme. Some businesses have no idea what giving to their community really is. I have seen ads in different forms of media proclaim “We give back to the community”. Action speaks louder than words. The business that really gives back value does so incognito. You don’t need to brag about it.
A local, hometown business is dependent on the local population for survival and success. The business must offer their products at a fair price and excellence in service after the sell. Excellent service is another over used and abused word. When we discuss the equation of a Legacy the terms service and excellence must be defined.
What is Excellence in Service? To achieve excellence does this mean satisfy 100% of your customers 100% of the time? I think we would both agree this is a fantasy. No one person or company is 100% . But 97% or 98% is a fantastic number to shoot for.
The 3% Brain Damage Rule. I have found in my business career that there are three people out of every one-hundred I cannot satisfy regardless of what I do. Sometimes I think these three customers are people who’s sole goal in life is to complain and spread misery, they are radioactive in any environment they occupy. If you work in any customer service environment you will meet three jerks out of every 100 customers you encounter. To prevent brain damage when you encounter a jerk just say to yourself “one down two to go”.
Excellent Service is Not A Destination. Now I don’t want to leave the impression that the other 97 customers are always in the “hunky-dory” mode. We have our service problems but I can tell you we solve 99% of all service issues. You may ask well how about the other 1% ? Well there is at least one loon out there for every 100 customers who will never be satisfied. I call it one of life’s mystery that will never be solved.
So What Does All of This Have to do With The Doenges Legacy? Before you can even be considered a Legacy excellent service needs to be an integral function and part of you business DNA. Excellent Service covers a wide net. You need to think in terms of Service in the following four areas.
- Excellence in Service to Your Customers
- Excellence in service to Your Employees
- Excellence in Service to Your Vendors
- Excellence in Service to Your Community
To build a legacy you need to hit the ball out of the park on all four of these service levels. Then you have to do it for five or more consecutive years.
The Doenges Family has been an Excellent Service Provider in All Four Arenas For the Last 69 Years! The Doenges team has mastered these four areas of Exemplary Service for 69 years. How many other enterprises, nationwide, have achieved this plateau of distinction? Well we both know that answer, few and far between.
Awards Should be Designed to Recognize Superlative Achievement. One proud community in Northeast Oklahoma hosts a prestigious Award Program called the Legacy Hall of Fame . According to Julia Crouch the Bartlesville Community Foundation that produces the event; The 2010 Legacy Hall of Fame honoree, the Bill Doenges family, represent generations of giving back to the community of Bartlesville.
Bill Meets Bert 69 Years Ago-The Start of Another Bartlesville Legacy. Crouch continues, the Doenges family story came to life in Bartlesville in 1941, when William C. “Bill” Doenges, purchased the Ford dealership from Bert Gaddis. Bill had already been working in the car business for over twenty years, operating numerous dealerships, including Tonkawa and Coffeyville. Bill continued to expand his business and bought the Ford agency in Tulsa in 1948.
How Bill and Elizabeth Spreed the Wealth. Crouch added , the car business wasn’t the only love that Bill Doenges passed on to his family. He and his wife Elizabeth really cared about this community. Through their leadership and financial support for dozens of organizations, sports teams, and causes, the couple set a great example for others to follow. That spirit of generosity is seen in present-day Bartlesville, as the Doenges family continues to invest quietly in valuable programs and community projects, including being the longest-running sponsor of an American Legion baseball team in the United States.
Today, two generations later, Doenges Toyota Ford Lincoln Mercury continues its success as a premier auto dealership in Bartlesville.

Ford Mulally Performance: The 2010 Ford Taurus SHO
May 17, 2010 by Brad - Your Car Guy · 2 Comments
$20,000 Emblem
Is it a Audi 6, Infinti M45X, Lexus LS 460 or the Mercedes E Class? Most people’s first impression of the new 2010 Ford Taurus SHO is “this is an European performance vehicle”. If I covered the Ford emblem you could guess any one of these high dollar competitors. Take any one of the above mentioned emblems and put it on the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO and now you can add twenty grand to the MSRP. This is how far the Taurus SHO has advanced.
There are a lot of reasons I say this:
1.) Styling : Let’s face it, no matter what the product is, if you don’t like the styling you ain’t buying it. Graceful lines with curve appeal, low, sultry and sexy puts the SHO in class all by itself. This alone is a great reason to own the new 2010 Taurus SHO, curb appeal deluxe.
2.) Creature Comforts: Number one on my list for the ultimate ride are the seats that give you a relaxing massage. These seats make you look forward to that long road trip. Not only do you arrive in style, you will arrive relaxed. Smart and strategically located ambient lighting in the front and rear foot-wells, door handles and cup holders prevents fumbling or distraction at night and any time you are driving. The overall panel and scope of gauges, knobs, and dials are all available in five easy on the eyes color combination’s of Ice Blue, Orange, Green, Soft Blue, Red and Purple.
3.) Raw Power: Simply put the raw power screams WOW! The Eco-Boost provides an exhilarating thrust as soon as you push the accelerator to the floor. The power comes as a natural complement to the electric power assist steering, the heavy duty springs, the tuned shocks, plus the stiffer stabilizer bars and new rear suspension provide a more connected feel between the driver and the road.
4.) Engineering: Quite. This dynamo is real quite. The SHO is a real feat in fast forward and future engineering. Even if you never experience the thrill of purchasing a new a new Ford Taurus SHO at least make it a mission to drive one.
True BLIS: The Blind Spot Information System with the appropriate acronym “BLIS” , takes the fear out of changing lanes, plus adds a layer of safety in transportation that will save lives.
4A) Superman Paint Have you ever been a bit apprehensive about taking your performance machine on one of the gravel back roads?; Or had your heart sink as you get stuck behind a truck hauling some type of debris flying out of the cargo bed? If so another kudo to the engineering team was the treatment of the paint. They have produced a paint worthy of the “Superman Kryptonite” title. Throw away your touch up paint, the Taurus paint finish is chip resistant. How much value will this add to your SHO at trade in time? Check out this two minute video I’ll call “War Paint” http://www.fordvehicles.com/2010taurus/?id=/demos/video01
5.)Technology: BLIS, as mentioned above is Fords unique blind spot detection guidance system. Today we have smart cars and part of that system is the Navigation System SIRIUS Travel Link™ . Ford’s Navigation intelligence provides useful travel information such as approaching weather, recommended travel stops for fuel, food and beverages. The new crystal clear HD Radio™ reception is loud and clear even in the middle of the Mojave desert.
Like The Expensive German Model
Ford’s Adaptive Cruise Control senses the time and distance needed to decelerate and slow down your vehicle to a safe driving speed to avoid any potential driving hazards The Collision Warning with Brake Support puts into motion exatly what the name implies, an alarm to help you stay clear of a potential collision.
Where and the heck are my Keys? Ford’s Intelligent Access and Push Button Start prevent that mad dash looking for your keys when you are already running five minutes late. How about that for peace of mind and or surprising your boss because now you are always on time! For all the details our in-house expert is Bill Hight .

The 2010 Ford Taurus SHO-The New Ford a Metamorphosis with Class
May 14, 2010 by Brad - Your Car Guy · Comments Off
If you have not seen the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO when you do, it will take your breath away. Before I can talk about the New 2010 Ford Taurus SHO and what a remarkable machine this is I need to discuss the Old Ford. A short story about the Old Ford gives readers a new appreciation for what the New Ford has accomplished.
There has been a huge paradigm shift within the New Ford Motor Company, concerning the customer, the dealers and the general state of the automotive business. There has also been a huge paradigm shift in how people think about the Big Three Automakers.
Street Talk
I get stopped all of the time and people tell me they will never buy a vehicle from GM again. In a way they are lucky. Just about the time GM was graveling for a handout Ford was well on its way to new leadership in product and customer service.
What is the first thing that pops into your imagination when you hear the words Ford and Taurus in the same sentence? OK..now be honest. The old Taurus was a remarkable car only in the fact that it sold almost eight million units, for what was basically an unremarkable vehicle. If you agree with me shake your head yes. What I mean is that I don’t think you will see a 1986-2005 era Ford Taurus on the Barrett-Jackson circuit in years to come
The first generation of the Taurus started in 1986 and ended in 1991. That year, 1986, the Taurus was named Motor Trends car of the year with such advanced features as aerodynamic styling and an ergonomic designed interior. Both features well received and ahead of it’s time for the motoring public.
Top Seller
1992 marked the start of the second generation Taurus. Although the redesign was not all that much, due to the right price point the Taurus continued to be a top seller. Then the third generation Taurus hit the show rooms in 1996 and continued for four model years until 1999. This 3rd generation brought in a whole new design and it you traveled much and if you wanted to rent a car over 50% of all rental fleets were stocked with the Taurus.
The Mulally Lifeline
The new millennium ushered in the 4th generation Taurus. The 4th generation Taurus was destined to the eternal automotive graveyard due to poor leadership and v vision at Ford in the early 2000′s. Taurus was on its last leg. That all changed on September 5, 2006. That was the day that Ford announced it had hired Alan Mulally as the the new CEO of Ford. Mulally not only saved the Taurus, he injected a new DNA into Ford; Mulally began a crusade for quality, first class products.
The fifth generation or the 2008 and 2009 Taurus basically was a search and rescue mission in preparation for the launch of the sixth generation Taurus in 2010. Before Mulally the idea was to drop the Taurus and introduce the Ford Five Hundred as it’s replacement. The 500 was a step in the right direction but Ford customers had a hard time trying to figure out just what was the 500?
Actually 24 years in the making we now arrive at the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO. That being said I will present a in-dept review of the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO in my next post. If you are in my geo area I have a black over black ready for a new home.

Seat Belts and the Ford Motor Company: Why Ford Earns Four Gold Stars
How many of you would buy a car without seat belts?
If I put this question to a vote, I bet not one hand would go up.
How many times have you read or heard a story about an auto accident involving a fatality or a serious injury and you silently whisper to yourself “I wonder if they were wearing a seat belt?”…. If you have nod your head yes.
Before I can talk about seat belts I want to let you in on a dirty little secret with an unique slant. In order to so I have to put this story in context. I will start with a survey by an auto retailer that was a selfish hoax.
They Must Have Been “Smoking Crack“I read a story the other day stating that Car Max ran a survey and came up with the following statistic. According to the genius who conducted this survey safety was not important. That out of six factors consumers considered most important safety ranked next to the last, Whoever conducted this survey must of been smoking crack. Why? …….How many of you would ride in an automobile if you knew that all of the safety features were disabled?? Zero.
Look at the Above Photo. Obama, Reid, Pelosi. The image is cut off at the bottom and what you don’t see is the inscription “Truth in Advertising” Now depending upon your political cup of tea what you read could be truth in advertising or false advertising. Rant: This is Off Topic But It Must Be Exposed:
Wouldn’t it be nice to buy a car without any games? There are certain car dealers and or organizations that are addicted to advertising subterfuge. They think they are so clever by trying to force feed the public misleading advertisements and making a weak attempt to come off as straight shooters. Total nonsense.
In this case Car Max is pushing their agenda. According to this Car Max survey affordability is the #1 concern that consumers consider before buying a automobile. Really! Well…Duh!
The Truth: How Dumb Do They Think We Are?
Car Max only sales used cars. New cars cost more than used cars. So why would Car Max’s survey profoundly state that the number one factor consumers consider when they buy automobile is affordability? Well…Duh! That is like a fast food restaurant conducting a survey saying that the number one thing people consider before eating fast fast food is that they are hungry.
A Misleading Ad Disguised as an Online Survey. Shame on You Car Max!
Any survey can be rigged to get the answers you want. You don’t believe me do ya? Well mosey on over to this link http://media.carmax.com/pr/carmax/smart-release-2-19.aspx.
Now is that a real survey or is that a deceptive ad written to look like a survey? This advertisement is self serving for CarMax and does not benefit you the consumer one iota, Sophomoric attempts like this are the very reason so many hard working , salt of the earth dealers are stereotyped as con men ,cheats and chisels. From time to time a few LOSERS can sink the entire fleet by blessing and condoning this advertising mentality, Message to the Car Max Advertising department :You guys are LOSERS.
Dean Jaradi Could Save Your Life:
I hope you never have to send Dean Jaradi a thank you card. If you did it would be because he saved your life or that of a loved one. The reason? Dean Jaradi is the inventor of multiple seat belt designs his latest is the rear INFLATABLE seat belt. Check out the video on the right side of this post. Dean is an engineer for Ford that has at least four US Patents for rear seat belts. Another reason Ford stays ahead of the market.

Creature Comforts You Will Enjoy With Fords Inflatable Rear Seat Belts:
This is how the new inflatable seat belts differ from today’s current seat belts; Comfort. The inflatable seat is padded on the outside and has a smooth feel against the body and or skin. You will be pleased to learn that securing baby seats and children seats is done with confidence. Add to this the subtle softness of the seat belt, tiny tots ride in real comfort.
How Ford Stays Ahead of the Market
One way a company stays ahead of the market is attracting and keeping people of talent and vision. Great companies weave the DNA of great minds into their culture. Dean Jaradi is one of these great minds. Jaradi is an engineer for Ford that has in his Ford employment portfolio at least four US Patents for rear seat belts. On a personal note and speaking from experience, had this inflatable rear seat belt been available a few years ago, a friend of mine would be alive today. Now think about Princess Diana.
