Ford Flex- To Grandma’s House We Go – Bartlesville to Wagoner
December 25, 2008 by Brad - Your Car Guy
I was recently asked by someone what car I thought was the best option for doing a little Holiday, as well as daily, traveling. Though Ford has several vehicles that are well suited to this purpose, when put on the spot to pick the single best, one car stood out clearly in my mind. For anyone who hasn’t had the chance to get familiar with one, the new Ford Flex is a car that is perfectly suited for the family on the go.
Imagine this. Its Christmas morning and, after three hours of sleep, you’ve managed to wrest the kids from their new toys, get them bathed, at least partially bathe yourself, wrap the relative’s presents, and prepare the dishes you told your mother-in-law you were going to bring for Christmas dinner. All that’s left now is the drive, over the hills and through the woods, or under the freeway, past the Macy’s and turning left at the fifth Starbucks on the right as the case may be. There are two options here. One is to cram the kids in the back seat of the car and then get there as fast as you can. The other is to take the Ford Flex.
The Flex is truly a luxury CUV. The interior of the Ford Flex takes it cues from furniture and fashion design with a level of craftsmanship and comfort that reminds you more of a comfortable living space than a car. Whether you are in the base level Flex, with it’s tweed like fabrics or the limited with all its leather, you’ll find the seats soft yet supportive, even if that Christmas drive is a long one. And, with heated seats, your likely to forget all about the white and drifting snow outside.
You can also feel safe knowing that, with the available all wheel drive, a good dose of power from the V6 and AdvancedTrac with roll stability control, you can handle any weather conditions the Christmas season might throw at you. You can also depend on side curtain airbags to protect your most precious cargo in case of the worst. Safety is engineered into the overall structure of the Flex, as well, with the use of boron steel and energy absorbing interior door trims.
Back to the seats, or more specifically the second row seats, keep the kids that are occupying them entertained by getting them a new DVD as a stocking stuffer and then playing it for them on the Flex’s otpional DVD Family Entertainment System that includes a headliner mounted monitor. They’ll have plenty of room to stretch out in their comfortable chairs and watch quietly while you make use of the voice activated navigation system to find the easiest, instead of the quickest, route there. You can ever store drinks in the class exclusive refrigerator mounted between those second row captains chairs.
And don’t worry about having room to haul all the presents, given or received. You would need to have a list as long as Santa’s to fill the cargo space offered by the flat folding rear seats. Go ahead and stack it high to, with the reverse camera you can see what’s behind you even when you can’t see over what’s behind you.
Yeah, if you are needing to do some holiday traveling, or any traveling, or even just hauling the family around town its hard to think of a better vehicle than the Ford Flex. If you get a chance check one out for yourself. I think you’ll agree. Today I will make a trip from Bartlesville to Wagoner Oklahoma.
About 200 miles round trip. I will file a report for you when I get back. This is a fun car to drive.
