2012 Toyota Avalon – A Conservative Design that Delivers on the Bottomline

January 31, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

The 2012 Toyota Avalon

The 2012 Toyota Avalon has a classic silhouette.

2012 Toyota Avalon – Elegance and Modern Technology Combined

The 2012 Toyota Avalon is the premier sedan manufactured by the Japanese automobile maker in the United States and is Toyota’s flagship sedan in North America as well as the Middle East. The Avalon is a full-sized sedan with plenty of room and a broad range of luxury features which provide a comfortably smooth driving and riding experience. Its size and functionality caters well to people who value comfort and excellent design over raw performance.

The 2012 Toyota Avalon will remain unchanged from its 2011 model year, but still offers a wide range of benefits highlighted by the largeness of its space, the comfort it provides and a number of luxury appointments as well. Is there reason to think twice about buying an Avalon then? No and here is why:

2012 Toyota Avalon Exterior – Classic Luxury

The beauty of the 2012 Toyota Avalon is in the simplicity of its design. Compared to its competition, the Avalon lacks sleek lines or strong accented angles. This is a strong point of the Avalon’s design. Instead of imitating modern aesthetics in new vehicles, it relies on the simplicity of its exterior to emit an elegant appeal akin to luxurious classic cars which were very popular in the past. With this in mind, there really is no reason for Toyota to chug out exterior changes every year which may very well alter the uniqueness of the Avalon.

The 2012 Toyota Avalon has a wide wheelbase and with the inclusion of a wide substantial grille that blends with the projector headlamps and the broad hood, the full-sized sedan looks even bigger than it really is. In fact, many people who have had the chance of reviewing the Avalon up close liken the sedan to an outstretched Camry.

The Avalon is equipped with very bright headlamps due to the combination of halogen high beams and halogen low beams producing a light signature that is unique to the vehicle. Its front fog lamps blend well with the trapezoid front bumper to produce lights that cover a wide area. The side mirrors are resistant to glare and are integrated with turn signals.

2012 Toyota Avalon Interior – Elegant Simplicity

2012 Toyota Avalon interior

The 2012 Toyota Avalon has a simple luxurious interior.

Aside from its elegant and classic exterior, the interior design of the 2012 Toyota Avalon is no different. The spacious interior looks very elegant from the inside not to mention comfortable because of the seating and the included amenities. Colors of the materials match well with the wood-grain style materials used to exude the elegance found commonly in luxury sedans.

The gauges are very presentable with white lighting and white pointers enclosed in smoked lenses as well as deep chrome rings that add up to the already luxurious appearance of the interior. To add comfort to luxury, Toyota even included finger tip-controlled control switches that help access other vehicle systems including Bluetooth smartphone connectivity

2012 Toyota Avalon Technology and Gadgetry

Despite exuding a sense of luxury evident in classically modern automobiles, the 2012 Toyota Avalon has a wide array of modern electronic technology to improve the vehicle experience of the driver as well as the passengers. Just some of these features include hands-free phone and music streaming via Bluetooth with a compatible device, auxiliary connectivity for iOS devices, and Sirius XM satellite radio capability among others.

The display system installed in the 2012 Toyota Avalon is not only for DVD playback. Likewise, it is also used by the navigation system and features a keyboard screen much like a personal computer. To provide the best sound quality, Toyota equipped the Avalon with a 9-speaker audio system to produce impressive sound quality. Upgrades to this system can also come in the form of a JBL 12-speaker 660-watt JBL Premium Synthesis audio system that is also fitted with a 2-coil subwoofer.

2012 Toyota Avalon Engine Power and Fuel Efficiency

The 2012 Toyota Avalon is equipped with a 24-valve 3.5-liter DOHC engine producing 268 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 248 pound-foot of torque at 4,700 RPM. Despite the powerful engine, it is integrated into a 6-speed automatic transmission system to maximize fuel economy. Because of this, the 2012 Toyota Avalon has an EPA rating of 20 miles per gallon on city roads and 29 miles per gallon on highways making it more fuel-efficient than many of the full-size sedans available in the market today.

There are many good reasons why the Avalon has a huge following among the older generation and there is no reason why younger car enthusiasts should not consider transitioning to a more elegant car design in the form of the 2012 Toyota Avalon.

The 2012 Toyota Camry – Reliability, performance and economy in a midsize sedan

January 27, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Toyota's all new 2012 Toyota Camry

The 2012 Toyota Camry catches your eye.

The Toyota Camry is one of the best selling cars in the midsize range. Its reputation is one of solid, consistent performance, roomy interior, and excellent fuel economy all combined with the ability to deliver power when required. The 2012 version of the Camry has been totally redesigned, but Toyota has held on to all the features that have made it such a popular car. Toyota has received some criticism in the motoring press for not giving the car a racier appearance, but these journalists seem to be missing Toyota’s point. The Camry is aimed at buyers who want to feel they are investing in a safe, reliable vehicle and the Camry’s exterior conveys exactly that image. The new Camry also sports a much more refined interior than previous models and features the new Web-based Entune system that integrates audio, infotainment and navigation.

2012 Toyota Camry Trim Levels

The Toyota Camry model is available in six different trims, two of which are hybrid versions. The entry-level car is the Camry L, which, at under $23,000 MSRP, represents excellent value for a car of this size and class. This trim, and the other standard engine trims, is sold with a 2.5-liter engine that delivers an impressive 268 horsepower to the front-wheel drive with a torque rating of 248 pound-feet at 4,800 rpm. The power available makes the car very comfortable when overtaking, and is all the more pleasing because the gas consumption level is surprisingly low. Consumption has been rated in all trims with standard engines at 25-mpg city and 35-mpg highway, excellent value for the money in a car of this size.

For those who want even more oomph, the Camry SE and XLE trims can be bought with a heftier 3.5-liter, V6 engine that, as you would expect, is less fuel efficient but still quite impressive at 21/30mpg. If fuel efficiency in a city environment is a key requirement, then the Hybrid LE (43/39mpg) and Hybrid XLE (40/38) are available. These are shipped with a 2.5-liter, hybrid engine with a combined horsepower rating of 200. All of the standard engine trims come with 6-speed automatic transmission while the Hybrids use the automatic electronic variable transmission.

2012 Toyota Camry Warranty and Toyota Care

While virtually all Toyota cars can be expected to offer trouble-free performance, there is always the chance that something will go wrong, so Toyota bundles a warranty package with its Camry range. Components and build benefit from a 3-year or 36,000-mile warranty while the powertrain is guaranteed for 5 years or 60,000 miles. The car is supplied with an anti-rust warranty for 5 years with unlimited mileage. The company also offers its Toyota Care package with new vehicles. This provides free regular scheduled maintenance up to 25,000 miles or 2 years.

2012 Toyota Camry Interior Refinement

2012 Toyota Camry SE Interior

The 2012 Toyota Camry has a much more refined interior.

Inside, the car feels spacious and comfortable. Toyota has modified both the base and slope of the rear window as well as the seating to give more space and the car provides a comfortable ride for three average adults in the rear. When carrying only two rear passengers, there is a pull-down central armrest with cup holders.

As you would expect, the higher priced trims deliver more in terms of style and features. The XLE comes with a 6.1-inch display with touchscreen for managing on-board entertainment as well as providing a navigation unit and Internet access.

Look for another post in the near future on Toyota’s Entune system.

The 2012 Toyota Prius is part of the breed that produced the top selling hybrid car in the world.

With more than 2.3 million units sold up to August 2011. Its status as a top seller reflects Toyota’s continued innovation and development in the hybrid field where the Prius was the first commercial hybrid on the market in 1997.

IntelliChoice, which gathers its data from many different sources, selected the Toyota Prius as the Best Overall Value of the Year for 2011 in its class.  http://doengestoyota.com/Bartlesville-OK/For-Sale/New/Toyota/Prius/2011-5dr-HB-III-Silver-Car/3410366/

In March 2012, the first plug-in version of the Prius will be shipped through dealers in 14 states, and in all states in 2013. This new version has been demonstrated achieving an amazing 87mpg using mainly electric power and is bound to be another Toyota success.

The 2012 Toyota Prius Myth Buster

Myth: Many people are reluctant to consider using hybrid cars because they fear they will have to learn new driving skills to compensate for the different power sources.

There is a perception that there will be noticeable lags as the car switches between electric and gas power, and vice versa. Some people are under the illusion that it is the driver who has to control the power source.

Reality:  The 2012 Toyota is a smooth operator. No compensation, no lag, if you did not know it was a hybrid .With the 2012 Toyota Prius, Toyota has produced a hybrid car that feels and behaves just like a standard gas-powered.

You will Love the Way the 2100/ 2012 Toyota Prius Drives

The onboard technology automatically and seamlessly swaps between the two power sources, or uses both together, as it deems necessary. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) system is also fully automatic and responds instantly and unnoticeably to power source changes.

The Toyota 2012 Toyota Prius is sold with a 1.8-liter, gas-powered engine coupled with two electric motors, delivering a maximum horsepower rating of 134. It is a 4-door, 5-seater hatchback with a very seductive appearance and beautifully designed interior, giving it a luxury feel.

If You Drive a Lot and Want to Go Green The Prius is the Answer

Because of the combined gas and electric motor technology, the Prius hybrid costs more than similarly sized cars with standard engines, so the key question is whether or not the car is worth the initial extra outlay. The answer depends very much on the model chosen and the predominant type of use the car is    put to.

The 2011/12 Prius will provide up to 51mpg in city driving and a generous 48mpg on the highway, while the larger, heavier 2012 Prius manages a more modest 44mpg and 40mpg respectively.  It is clear that by using the Toyota Prius people who do a lot of city driving will make substantial savings on gas and that these savings will more than compensate for the initial additional purchase outlay.

It should also be remembered that gas prices have consistently been on an upward trend and are likely to continue to rise during the life of the car, making the Toyota Prius an even more economical investment…. Wouldn’t you agree?

The 2012 Toyota Corolla – Car Buying Tips – Brad Your Car Guy

The 2012 Toyota Corolla – Affordability and Convenience in a Family Sedan

No other sedan is more iconic to the Toyota brand than the Corolla and the all-new 2012 Toyota Corolla puts the legendary sedan series firmly on track with that notion. The Corolla has become Toyota’s international all-time flagship or “flagsedan” for that matter for more than 40 years now and has even become the basis for the design of other Toyota sedans or hatchbacks. This year, the 2012 version carries with it the major changes seen from the greatly revamped 2011 Corolla plus a slew of new features making it as visible as ever among the most top-selling sedans around the world.

Brief History and the New 2012 Toyota Corolla

Since its introduction in 1966, the Corolla has long been regarded as one of the best family sedans because of its features and its rather inexpensive price tag. For this reason, it is one of the most well-known sedans internationally.

 2012 Toyota Corolla Design

Despite not belonging to the same price range as its more expensive counterparts, the 2012 Toyota Corolla still features a smooth design that appeals even to drivers with a sense of style. It may not look like the most aesthetically appealing in its category but clearly, what it lacks in the design department, it makes up for in its cost and its comfort.

Interior Creature Comfort of the 2012 Toyota Corolla

Like all other compact cars under the sedan category, the 2012 Toyota Corolla isn’t exactly designed to provide a very spacious head room. It is in essence a four-door sedan with a passenger capacity of a maximum of five. However, many creature comforts have been added to ensure that passengers get the best comfort for every ride including improved front seating for taller drivers and passengers, a display that shows a range of information about the vehicle, as well as easy to reach storage spaces.

Technology and the  2012 Toyota Corolla

Depending on the trim level chosen, there is a wide range of upgrades available for the 2012 Toyota Corolla. The base L trim level has the basic power windows, locks, mirrors, air conditioning, trip monitor, as well as keyless entry system. The mid-range LE trim level features steering wheel audio controls that also have iPod and Bluetooth connectivity integrated with the improved audio systems. The sportier S trim level meanwhile has stitched seat accents, XM satellite radio, a moonroof, as well as a navigation system.

Safety Features on the 2012 Toyota Corolla

Those second guessing whether the 2012 Toyota Corolla is the right choice as a family vehicle should realize that for its affordable price, this vehicle is one of the safest family sedan or compact car around having been chosen as an IIHS Top Safety Pick. All trim levels are fitted with front and side-curtain airbags, as well as active front head restraints. The body is also designed and engineered to absorb impacts and disperse energy throughout the entire body making use of specially partitioned crumple zones.

2012 Toyota Corolla Performance

Sporting an I-4 1.8-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine that allows 132-horsepower at 6,000 RPM of power and 128 pound-feet at 4,400 RPM of torque, the 2012 Toyota Corolla has an excellent fuel efficiency of 27 miles per gallon for city roads and 34 miles per gallon for highways. This sedan can go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 10.1 seconds and from 80 to 120 kilometers per hour in 8.6 seconds.

With a stiff body structure making use of a torsion beam rear suspension, the 2012 Toyota Corolla cruises with top-notch handling to allow for a very comfortable ride. It is fitted with an electric power-assist steering mechanism that automatically adjusts itself depending on vehicle speed. All these handling features make sure the driver gets the most responsiveness from his vehicle regardless of cruising speed.

A Bartlesville Benchmark Since 1968- Doenges Toyota

April 5, 2010 by · Comments Off

In 1968, when the first Toyota came rolling off the transport truck at Doenges Ford, there were a lot of people stopping to look. To say the little Japanese cars didn’t quite look right amongst the bigger ‘69 Ford Mustangs, Torinos, Galaxys, Broncos and F-Series trucks would be an understatement.

1978 Toyota Corolla

But Bill Doenges thought he was on to something. You see, that little car was built pretty well, and best of all got an amazing 26 miles per gallon.

1988 Toyota Cressida

Toyota has come a long way since then, and so has Doenges Toyota, now in its third generation of the Doenges family.

1998 Toyota Camry

We’ve been with many of you from your very first car to your very first family car, to the car you drive to see your grandchildren. There’s been a lot of press lately about how Toyota’s rapid growth led them to overlook the quality of certain aspects of their vehicles. Over the past few months, Toyota and Toyota dealers like Doenges have tirelessly made strides to correct the issues and live up to what Toyota drivers expect in their vehicles. Every customer will be satisfied. Completely Satisfied Customers, a Doenges Ford Lincoln Mercury Toyota trademark and tradition for the last 69 years.

2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Just like Bill stood beside Toyota in 1968, Doenges Toyota stands beside the brand today. When you purchased your Toyota from Doenges, you didn’t buy it from a big corporation. You bought if from a family owned business, with a deep history of almost seventy years in the community and a Sales and Service staff that we believe reflects our passion for what we do.

2011 Toyota Camry

Despite the recent troubles for Toyota, and despite predatory sales techniques like government-owned General Motors using tax payer bail-out money as incentives to bribe Toyota owners to hand in their keys, you have stood beside us. We thank you. To thank you for standing beside us.

When Does a Safe Toyota Become Dangerous?

February 21, 2010 by · Comments Off

Are You Paying Attention?…”Stay In Your Lane Meat-head!”

We all possess in town driving patterns that are predictable. There is a left hand turn that I take everyday, sometimes multiple times a day into my neighborhood that falls in this predictable category. It will help if I can help you visualize what I look at everyday as I approach this left-hand turn. Everyday it gets a little more scary. It is not a matter of if but when someone is going to be hurt and hurt bad.

I Bet You Witness What I Witness Everyday

I make this turn approximately 150 feet from a crest of a small hill, so the oncoming traffic has plenty of time to see me. I have sufficient time to see them coming as well, as their vehicle tops the crest and the road flattens out.  The traffic moves at a constant clip of 45MPH, sometimes a little faster. However speed is not the problem here. Drifting left of center for eight out of ten cars is. Having made this same turn for the last twelve years the frequency of this drifting  has gone from zero to close to 80%.

What has Changed Over the Last Twelve Years to Raise the Risk Level of the Left-hand Turn?

  • It is not the vehicle. Cars, trucks, SUV’s are all manufactured safer today than they were in 1998.
  • The road I use to make the left hand turn has been widened and improved, it is a safer thoroughfare.
  • The weather is the same. Global warming has nothing to do with it.

So that leaves one variable. The driver. Everyday as I watch one car after another drift left of center headed directly for the center of my front grill, I flash my lights to wake them up. If I don’t it could be “curtains”,

The  Definition of a Drifter up to 1998: Tramp_Wanderer_Vagabond_Hobo_Transient_Rolling Stone_Vagrant

Starting in around 2001 a new definition has emerged to define a “Drifter”, Automobile drivers that have a phone held up to their ear, sitting in their lap or in the palm of their hand. These drivers are paying more attention to their phone than they are to the road. As cars continue to improve in safety driving skills seem to diminish in the same proportion.

Today The # 1 Hazard to Your Overall Car Safety

The number one safety issue for any car, truck, SUV or van is the cell phone. Why stop at cars and trucks? Excuse me for being a dim-wit for not mentioning the following,  How about passenger trains, freight trains, airplanes, boats or any piece of machinery that requires your undivided attention to operate.

What Causes More Accidents A Defect in the Car of the Driver?

As manufactures continually upgrade the performance and safety of vehicles they also give the driver a false sense of security.  I came across an interesting point of view about car accidents, asking…..is it the driver or the car?, this is a short but poignant  article by Jon Hamilton, click on this link.http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=123610366&sc=17&f=1001

When Does A Safe Car Become Dangerous?

Recently Toyota had a recall on various different models concerning a possible “sticky peddle” that could cause a sudden and unsafe boost in acceleration. This defect has been confirmed in less than 20 cars worldwide. To maintain Toyota’s long tradition of building safe cars the manufacturer decided to recall every car made that in any way shape or form could be affected by this malfunction. A blanket recall regardless if any Toyota sold had the defect or not, Right now Toyota is upgrading 50,000 cars a day. That is how you keep a safe car, safe.

As a Toyota dealer my first duty is to serve our local customer needs first, and then any Toyota customer worldwide  thereafter. If you have any questions or if can provide any help call me at 918-333-0900. I have and will always be proud to represent the Toyota Corporation.

2009 Toyota Yaris: Economy, Style and Fun

Fuel Economy Without Hybrid Price Tags

These days, those who are looking for a car that gets excellent mileage often turn to hybrid vehicles. For many, however, the added cost of hybrid technology puts what is supposed to be an economical vehicle out of their price range. If you are one of these people, have no fear. Hybrids aren’t the only way to get great fuel mileage. There are still great economy cars out there that can deliver the fuel mileage your looking for.

Welcome to the 2009 Toyota Yaris.

2009 toyota yaris

2009 Toyota Yaris

The 2009 Toyota Yaris is the sub compact economy car from the manufacturer who made their name with economy cars. And by economy I don’t mean cheap. Though frugal both in sticker price and fuel bills this little commuter offers all the styling, room, features and attention to detail that one would expect from a car sporting the Toyota badge. Add to this Toyota’s solid reputation for reliability and quality and what you get in the 2009 Yaris is a lot of bang for surprisingly little bucks.

2009 Yaris Body styles

This 2009 Toyota subcompact offering is available in one of three body styles. Whether you choose the three-door hatchback, the five-door hatchback or the four-door sedan, if you like cute, you’ll love this car.

Kelley Blue Book points out that the liftback makes the more expressive design statement and they are right. Somewhat beetle like in its shape the three and five door hatchbacks are the ultimate in urban geek chic. Headlights and tailights stand out looking bulbous and over-sized and fit nicely with the rounded edges that dominate this car. Get the S-trim package and the to add even more funky flare with 15 inch steel wheels and a ground effects body kit.

toyota yaris interior

Toyota Yaris Interior

Where the hatchback stands out in exterior style, the sedan makes its statement in interior room. With an additional 20 inches of body length the four door sedan Yaris is one of the more roomy subcompacts to be found on today’s market.

For those who love the hatchbacks bulbous cuteness, though, you will be happy to see the focus on young fun styling continue into the Yaris’ interior. A narrow center stack, three glove boxes, and center mounted instruments combine to keep the Yaris’ playful style consistent inside and out. Toyota also offers the option of sliding and reclining rear seats to help overcome the tighter confines of the hatchbacks smaller size.

2009 Yaris Performance and Economy

A 1.5 liter four cylinder motor powers all Yaris models. This little powerplant delivers 106 ponies and 103 lb-ft of torque to the Yaris’ front wheels via a standard five speed manual or optional four speed automatic transmission and manages to deliver respectable acceleration for a subcompact economy car.

As should be expected in the subcompact economy class, however, this car is all about fuel economy. Posting a miserly 29 city 36 highway with the standard transmission and 29 city 35 highway with the automatic the 2009 Toyota Yaris delivers where subcompact consumers want it most, at the gas pump.

2009 Toyota Yaris Safety

Where subcompact consumers often expect their cars to deliver least is in safety. Toyota doesn’t think one should have to sacrifice safety for economy, however, and in the 2009 Toyota Yaris they made sure that safety was a primary focus.

With standard safety features one would expect in much pricier cars, like side curtain airbags and ABS, the 2009 Toyota Yaris managed to earn four of five stars for the front occupant and five stars for driver in frontal crash tests. The car was also rated good by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in both frontal offset and side impact tests.

A Great Little Subcompact Economy Car

You can also browse my entire inventory of new and used offerings from Ford Toyota Lincoln and Mercury on my Bartlesville lot. I will be more than happy to assist you in any way I can.

I hope that if you are in the market for a subcompact car you will give the Toyota Yaris serious consideration. Until tomorrow, have a great day!
