2012 Ford Taurus is “Fun to Drive” and Hits the Bull’s-eye
January 26, 2012 by Stealthman- You Car Guy · Leave a Comment
The Ford Taurus, Ford’s iconic full-size sedan, was first introduced in 1986 and quickly became one of the best selling sedans of all time. The 2012 Ford Taurus is a well rounded sedan with something for everyone.
2012 Ford Taurus Combines Performance and Safety
The Taurus is truly a driver’s car, in line with Ford’s aim to present a “fun-to-drive” image, particularly the high-performance Taurus SHO model with the 365 hp twin turbocharged EcoBoost 3.5L V6 engine and all-wheel-drive. But, don’t think you will be disappointed by the other, less expensive set ups. These deliver many of the same driving dynamics, along with the safety features and high-technology options that Taurus and Ford have become known for.
The Taurus SE comes with a normally aspirated 263 hp 3.5L V6, which is reason enough for a prospective Ford buyer to shift his sights from the smaller Fusion. A Taurus buyer will save money by choosing the $25,555 SE over the $38,155 SHO, but won’t save a lot in fuel costs, as the direct-injection EcoBoost engine on the SHO gets pretty close to the standard 3.5 Duratec’s mpg (17/25 for the turbo vs. 18/28).
Slotting in between these 2 extremes are the SEL for $27,755, providing more features than the SE, like dual-zone air-conditioning and leather trim and then there’s the Limited for $32,155 which provides a more complete luxury package than the SEL without the performance and handling upgrade of the SHO.
2012 Ford Taurus Advanced Technology Features
As with every model in the current Ford lineup, there is a lot of useful technology built into the 2012 Ford Taurus.
MyKey, a personalized electronic key system, is standard right across the 2012 Ford Taurus range.
SYNC – Ford’s class leading technology developed in partnership with Microsoft – links your handheld electronic devices, such as smart phones and USB devices, with your vehicle through voice commands and much more.
The message center with trip computer and compass is standard on all but the SE base model. Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning is a great feature which is sadly only available as an option on the Limited and SHO models. This system not only maintains vehicle speed at a preset limit on the highway, but also slows down when vehicles ahead slow, then accelerates when the traffic flow speeds up again.
Likewise, the Sirius Navigation System is optional only on the top 2 models. As basic GPS systems are a dime a dozen these days, however, most buyers in need of electronic map guidance will just head to Wal-Mart for a cheap and cheerful Chinese dash-mounted device. Still, it seems a pity that a major manufacturer like Ford can’t provide such a popular and useful item as standard. For more information on the Ford technology, click here.
2012 Ford Taurus Hits the Bull’s-eye
The 2012 Taurus is all about providing what the market wants, and Ford knows that there is a market for high-spec, high-performance vehicles as well as for entry-level base models which allow buyers to purchase a bigger, more powerful car without blowing the budget.
This is a full-size Ford for every market segment, and if sales in the last 2 years are anything to go by, the 2012 Ford Taurus will be a runaway success.

Introducing the 2012 Ford Flex Model Line-up – and Some Smart Features of Each
The 2012 Ford Flex is the perfect example of a full-size crossover featuring an exterior design with sleek modern contours and lines but with a largely classical touch to it. While the outside of the 4-door vehicle makes it an eye-turner because of its unique form, it is the features and options available for each trim that make it one of the best in its category.
The 2012 Ford Flex SE
The 2012 Ford Flex SE is the basic trim of this Ford model and as such, is priced affordably. Features include a manual front air conditioning system, six-speed automatic OD transmission, separate controls for the rear air conditioning, front fog and driving lights, a Keyfob remote keyless entry system for all doors, 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, driveline traction control with ABS, and a 3.5-Liter 262-Horsepower V6 Engine. Like the SEL and Limited trim, the Titanium trim is available in front-wheel drive configuration with an EPA rating of 17/24 miles per gallon and an all-wheel drive configuration with an EPA rating of 16/23 miles per gallon.
The 2012 Ford Flex Titanium trim has all the features of the Limited trim except the Titanium sports 20-inch polished aluminum wheels and a rear electronic parking aid with camera and ultrasonic sensors. The chrome finishing and some details in the exterior parts are also slightly different for each other. Like the Limited trim, there is an EcoBoost version of the Titanium available sporting the same 3.5-Liter 355-Horsepower V6 engine with a rating of 16/22 miles per gallon.

The 2011 Ford Shelby Mustang GT 500 Meets Will Rogers in Bartlesville Oklahoma
May 20, 2010 by Brad - Your Car Guy · Comments Off
Will Rogers at 155mph- I understand that at 155-mph that the divided white line down the center of the Will Rogers Turnpike appears to change to a solid white line. Is that Fact or Fiction? Before I can answer that let me introduce a special team.
Ford’s High Performance SWAT team– the Service Vehicle Team–”SVT”. So now back to the Fact or Fiction 155mph question. That answer starts right here. Ford has assembled a talented team of high performance engineers with a unique DNA. Their DNA is a braid of performance, style, speed, and pure class that they inject into everything they touch. This handpicked Ford Performance Vehicle Design SWAT team has their own moniker the Special Vehicle Team or “SVT” for short.
A Current Example of their Talent: The 2011Ford Shelby Mustang GT 500. For instance they have injected this DNA braid into the 2011 Ford Shelby Mustang GT 500. There is no other car that can measure up to the Shelby Mustang in its price range. I think the vehicle is actually underpriced. You get a lot more than you pay for. You could say this is due to their lean, tough and smart design philosophy.
The Speed Daemon-This Car is Fast! From a dead standstill to 155mph not only does the illusion of the solid white occur as you close in on the 155mph mark, it does so amazingly quick. If I reavealed how quick -I might be breaking the law!
Onward!…..Why the 2011 Ford Shelby Mustang GT 500 is intoxicating. One reason of many the performance and speed is intoxicating lies with the SVT’s talent in developing an all aluminum-block engine. This aluminum engine dropped 120 pounds as compared to its 2010 predecessor. Combine this with the boost in horsepower to 550 the results for brute power and speed are reaching obscene levels. With this in your driveway you will have the hottest car in the neighborhood, if not the entire city.
Say Goodbye to the Gas Guzzler Tax. Nifty trick here. Add more speed and power and at the same time increase the gas mileage. They figured a way to squeeze a few more miles per gallon thus abolishing the gas guzzler tax. The weight loss combined with the introduction of electric steering has for one improved the feel of the road. The beast is easier to handle on tight curvy roads.
But wait there is more!!! What in the world is electric steering? Electric Steerings is invisble to the operator but a marvel because of all the benefits it brings to your driving enjoyment.
Let me explain.
Electric Power Steering Eliminates:
- The old fashioned steering pump that sucks up to 10 horsepower.
- Hoses, leaks and grinding. No longer do you have to buy power steering fluid or check for leaks.
- All that extra weight due to the pump, hoses, brackets and the harness is jettisoned. This adds not only to your fuel economy it just makes the car faster.
- The extra noise decibel level brought on by the hydraulics of a mechanical power steering system. You benefit from a surprisingly quite ride. Now just sit back and enjoy the quite roar and hum of the 5.4L 550hp power plant.
Here are two short videos that give you a bird’s view of the 2011 Ford Shelby Mustang GT 500

Have you ever been in a dealership and read something about torque but really have never understood what 400 or 500 pounds of torque really mean? If so go check out these two sources. The short and sweet version is here . http://largiader.com/articles/torque.html
Horsepower=Speed.Torque=acceleration and towing ability. A car could have 500HP and 100 torque. It would accelerate from 0-60mph in 10 seconds, but reach 180mph. A car could have 100HP and 500 lbs torque. would accelerate from 0-60mph in under 4 seconds, but only reach 110mph.
When you go to http://largiader.com/articles/torque.html Bruce Augenstein explains in detail how torque works.

The Doenges name has been associated with Ford in Bartlesville for many years now and it is an association I could not be prouder of. Remember Shopping for a Diamond Ring?
When it comes to shopping for a new car, it is important to make sure that you pick the right one for you. Unlike everything else that we buy on a daily basis, you cannot just return the car because you did not get what you expected. Most times, people have a hard time finding the right car for their needs. This problem, though, may just have become much less significant now that the new 2010 Ford Taurus has been officially introduced to the public.

Customer feedback inspired the sporty changes to the 2009 Ford Focus. The coupe and sedan are distinctively different with 17 inch aluminum wheels and a new aerodynamic design. Increased horsepower is a welcome addition as Focus continues to maintain its 35 miles per gallon rating. Focus is effectively designed to continue the 2008 surge in sales.
