The 2010 Toyota Prius Pure Intrigue
Toyota manufactures automobiles in three basic groups. Good, Better and Best. In this teaser video, featuring the Blue Man Group, we are given glimpses of the upcoming 2010 Toyota Pirus. This intriguing modern marvel is the best selling hybrid vehicle in the world and, judging by this video, it may well remain so for the foreseeable future. What Toyota has done to the lithium battery would compare to what the Wright brothers did for airplanes. I sincerely believe we will be independent of most fossil fuels with-in the next decade. Why do I say this? Talk about Blue, these new ego friendly batteries scream Green. Up next on the techno lazy-susan will be the Plug-in-Play Prius.
Toyota Pirus 2010 Smooth Operator
While those familiar with the Toyota will instantly know this is a Prius, there appear to be a few minor changes. The nose and tail will be different than those of the current model, but the overall shape of the car remains largely unchanged. Under the hood and what you can’t see is how the Toyota engineers improved fuel economy in the Pirus so that you will now get close to 55 mpg. You probably thought I was a little off my rocker when I claimed “oil Independence” with the next ten years. Well think about it…if over 50% of the vehicles on the road in the next 10 years averaged 50mpg, what would world wide oil reserves look like? How about 78 cent a gallon gas!
Hybrid Synergy Drive
Of the most note is a new, center console mounted, telematics screen which will reportedly integrate nav system, entertainment system and fuel mileage display functions. There are also reports that the 1.5L engine of the Hybrid Synergy Drive system will be replaced by a 1.6L, improving the car’s top speed while still allowing the car, as I stated above to surpass the fuel economy numbers of it’s present day counterpart. Now that is no small feat, more power, less fuel, to me that is like winning the daily double. Who wouldn’t take advantage of a deal like that?
Jennifer and Leonardo’s Baby
What is four inches longer and an inch wider? Yep…you guessed it… it’s the new length and width of the 2010 Prius. Those Toyota engineers are constantly begging for the next level of challenge. So I want to challenge you. Watch the video and leave a comment letting me know what you think… Will Toyota be able to hold on to their top spot in the hybrid market while facing new competition from both Ford and GM? Or do you think the Big Two American domestic car manufactures have finally got their act together and will give Toyota a run for their money and stay competitive? One thing I really believe in, and have always believed in, is never, never give up on American ingenuity.
