2009 Toyota Avalon; #1 Affordable Large Sedan

2009 Toyota Avalon

The Toyota Avalon may not be the first car most people think of when they are asked to name a great large sedan. However, according to U.S. News and World Report, it probably should be.

In this year’s rankings U.S. News and World Report have the 2009 Toyota Avalon ranked as the number one affordable large car. The ranking is based on analysis of 55 published reviews and test drives of the car as well as safety and reliability data. So, apparently there are a lot of reviewers who consider the Avalon to be the tops in its class. Maybe this car deserves more attention than it gets.

Let’s take a look and see what all this praise is about.

2009 Toyota Avalon

The 2009 Toyota Avalon is the flagship sedan from the world’s largest auto manufacturer. Introduced in the mid-90s this full sized sedan spent its first few years as a good car that lived up to Toyota’s reputation as a make of solid reliable automobiles but suffered somewhat in popularity due to a lack of style. Well, style is no longer an issue.

The 2009 Avalon features sharp modern lines that give it a elegant refined look. From the chrome grille and door handles to the tall rear deck to the subtle sculpted lines below the windows and above the wheels the Avalon manages to be a thoroughly modern automobile with an old school European flair.

Whether you choose the XL, XLS, or top of the line trim level limited the Avalon is a sedan that attracts attention in a refined dignified manner.

2009 Avalon Engine and Fuel Effficiency

A full sized sedan requires a significant amount of power and the 2009 Toyota Avalon delivers plenty. Powered by a 3.5 liter V6 the Avalon generates a respectable 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. Paired with the six speed automatic transmission that comes standard on all Avalons the Avalon not only cruises comfortably at highway speeds but can be nicely responsive when asked to put the hammer down.

You might expect the power required to get such a lrge car down the road so nicely would come at the expense of fuel mileage. Yep, you might think that, but then you might be surprised. So what is the 2009 Avalon’s milage rating. How does 19 city/28 highway sound. That’s right, almost 30 mpg from a full sized sedan. Its simply another area where the Toyota Avalon ranks first in its class.

2009 Avalon Interior

I say it in all my Toyota reviews and this one is no different. Toyota automobiles, as a whole, are second to none when it comes to interior fit and finish. The Avalon is simply more data to support the rule.

when you get inside the 2009 Avalon you are likely to think you’ve climbed into a much more expensive luxury sedan. The roomy cabin offers nearly as much room to its rear seat occupants as it does to those in front. And with features like dual zone climate control, AM/FM 6-disc in dash cd changer with MP3 playback, bluetooth compatibility and satellite radio enabled and 12 speakers, power windows and locks and even reclining rear seats this Toyota is truly a joy to experience.

Toyota Avalon Safety

Sound good so far? Well, what if I told you that we haven’t even talked about the area where the 2009 Toyota Avalon really shines. With all this car has to offer, the area where it may shine its brightest is actually in safety.

The 2009 Toyota Avalon is more than just a combination of looks power and luxury. This full sized flagship sedan also earns five stars, the highest posible rating, in every government crash test. Add to those crash test ratings the Avalons impressive standard safety features including 4 wheel ABS, a brake force distribution system, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, active head restraints, front and side airbags, side head curtain airbags, and even a drivers knee airbag and you will begin to see why the Avalon easily out scores all competitors in safety rankings.

This is a very nice automobile. What doesn’t it come with: AM/FM 6-Disc in dash CD changer with MP3 playback, Bluetooth Compatibility, Satellite Radio and 12 Speakers, but where are the woofers?
