Bartlesville Ready to Get Green With Ford
Its a wonderful time of year here in Bartlesville. Spring is in the air and the whole world is turning green. Okay, maybe its a little early to be ringing in the springtime, but there is no arguing over the world turning green. Everywhere you look these days, green is the color of choice. The new ‘green’ movement is affecting industries across the spectrum.
As should be expected, the automotive industry is one of the premiere industries where green thinking is having a huge impact. New green cars, or hybrids, are all the rage these days. Between the economic benefit of their fuel savings and the environmental benefit of their lowered emissions hybrid vehicles are a great choice for those who want to give to the global effort to get greener and while at the same time getting great savings by avoiding the gas pump.
The 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid
Well, where there is a change in the automotive industry you can be certain Ford will be near the forefront. And with hybrid vehicles that is precisely the case. Ford is one of the major contributors to new hybrid technologies, and with their new lines of hybrids, vehicles like the 2009 Ford Escape hybrid, Ford is once again showing why they are the car company known for both excellence and innovation.
Ford Escape Hybrid Getting Stronger
Though similar to the previous year model, the 2009 Ford hybrid Escape does see some changes that distinguish it from the 2008. Chief among the changes is a slightly larger engine, going from 2.3 liters to 2.5 liters. The new engine offers improved power and performance, to the tune of an added 20 hp, while still providing Escape hybrid owners with 34 mpg highway and 31 mpg city fuel economy ratings. Running in electric only mode when idling and driving at lower speeds the hybrid is able to offer this impressive fuel economy even in historically fuel draining stop and go driving conditions.
Also new to the 2009 model is an economy mode that allows the vehicle to operate in pure electric mode while using the A/C. In the previous models using the air conditioner required the gas engine to run continuously which could have a significant effect on real world fuel economy, especially during an Oklahoma summer.
When operating in electric only mode the 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid runs off an innovative nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) battery. The battery is stored under the load floor of the rear cargo area and recharged in part each time you hit the brakes due to Ford’s Regenerative Braking System.
Escape Hybrid Green Inside and Out
And, with the 2009 Ford Escape hybrid, the green technologies aren’t restricted to the engine. Ford brings the green indoors with seat fabrics made from polyester fibers that would previously been filling landfills and cushions constructed from foam derived from the oils of soybeans and other plant seeds. These durable, fashionable and comfortable materials help to make the 2009 Escape hybrid a friend of the environment inside and out.
The 2009 Ford Escape hybrid is being offered in two trim levels, base and limited, and a choice of either front or all wheel drive. The base version comes standard with power drivers seat, full power accessories, MP3 player input jack, four speaker CD stereo, and dual zone climate control. Kick it up a notch to the limited edition and add chrome accents, keypad entry, leather seats, sunroof, retractable cargo cover, rear parking assist, and Ford’s Sync system technology. Options like a navigation system and running boards are also available.
Those who add the optional navigation system will get a few other really cool features as well. A 10GB hard drive for storing photos, ripping entire CDs or just favorite tracks, and managing music with the voice-activated Jukebox function are all part of the nav system package. You can also watch DVDs when the vehicle is in Park position.
Available SIRIUS Travel Link also works in conjunction with your available voice-activated Navigation System to provide real-time traffic information, local fuel prices, weather information, sports scores and movie listings.
Ford Standing Behind New Hybrid Technology
You also get peace of mind knowing that your 2009 Ford escape hybrid is covered by a 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty with extended powertrain and restraint system coverage of 5 years or 60,000 miles. In addition, the Escape Hybrid’s unique components – high-voltage battery, electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (CVT) and the DC/DC converter – are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles.
When you add it all together what you actually get in this Escape hybrid is a vehicle that would be a pleasure to own even without the benefits afforded by hybrid technologies.
So this spring take a look at the 2009 Ford Escape hybrid. You just might find that you can enjoy the green all year long.
